And the 'College Award' goes to…
Jacobs students Philipp Mikio Herzberg and Frank Richter have been honored for their outstanding commitment to the campus community and their excellent academic performance. Both received awards endowed with €5000 from their respective colleges thanks to the generosity of the members of the Jacobs University Board of Governors.
February 3, 2012Philipp Mikio Herzberg, a third year student in Neuroscience and Cognitive Psychology, impressed the Krupp College Award Committee, with multiple multimedia activities promoting student-driven events.
On behalf of the Krupp College Award Committee, Krupp College Master Isabelle Schömann said about the 21-year-old: “His open-mindedness and dynamism to create, support and transmit projects, his enthusiasm and capacity to motivate fellow students to share their talents have proven to be real assets for the whole community.”
Frank Richter, a third-year student in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, also contributed enormously to the social life on campus and counts among the high academic achievers at Jacobs.
Ulf Hansen, Chair of the College 3 Award Committee said: “Frank is a role model for his fellow College 3 students and university-wide. We wish him all the best for his promising career and hope that the College 3 Award is a further motivation for him.”
Both students had already caught the attention of their college communities over the course of last year when they were named ‘Student of the Year’. They will now use the endowments of their respective awards to fund their studies at Jacobs and possibly go traveling after their graduation this year.
About the College Awards
Each year Jacobs University's four colleges honor 2nd or 3rd year undergraduates for their excellent academic achievements combined with outstanding extracurricular contributions to the colleges. Except for the Mercator Award, which is presented by the Mercator Foundation, these prizes have been donated by the Jacobs University Board of Governors.
